Locked Out of Your Instawork Account?

Here’s How to Recover Your Profile, Change Your Phone Number, and Avoid Duplicate Accounts

Updated over 6 months ago

Who is this for?

• Anyone who can’t log in because the old phone number no longer works or has been forgotten.

• Anyone who created a second Instawork profile just to reach support and now needs to merge or reactivate the original account.

• Anyone who sees an in-app message about a duplicate account or potential suspension.

Why you should NOT keep a duplicate account

Instawork’s systems automatically flag more than one profile per person. Keeping two accounts can freeze both, erase your work history, and delay payments. Follow the steps below to recover your original account instead.

Step-by-Step: Recover or Reactivate Your Instawork Account

1. Open the Account Recovery Form

Tap or click “Start Account Recovery” inside the Instawork app. This is the fastest way to regain access when you’re locked out.

2. Provide the phone numbers

• Old phone number: Enter the number originally linked to your profile—even if you can’t receive texts there or only remember part of it.

• New phone number: Enter the number you want to use from now on.

3. Tap Continue

Your request is securely sent to our recovery service.

4. Verify your identity

You’ll be redirected to our trusted ID-verification partner. Follow the prompts to upload a government ID and, if asked, a selfie. This step confirms you’re the rightful owner of the account you’re trying to recover.

5. Confirm the new phone number

Once your ID matches the details on file, we’ll text a verification code to the new phone number. Enter that code in the app. When accepted, the new number replaces the old one and your original Instawork profile is restored.

What happens next?

• You log in with the new phone number and your existing work history, badges, and payments remain intact.

• Any duplicate account you created can be deleted or will be deactivated automatically; you won’t need it anymore.

• Future logins will use the new phone number.

Common Questions

I’m completely locked out and don’t remember my old phone number. Can I still recover my account?

Yes. Provide as much of the number as you can recall (area code or last digits). The identity-verification step is what proves ownership, so partial information is usually enough.

I just made a new account with my current phone number. Can’t I keep that one instead?

No. Duplicate accounts are against Instawork’s Terms of Use and can lead to suspension. Recovering your original profile protects your completed shifts, ratings, and earnings.

My old phone was lost or stolen—does that matter?

Not at all. The recovery process updates your profile to the new phone number and removes the old one.
