Updating your payment method (US)

You can update your preferred payment method on Instawork at any time. Follow these steps to update where and when you get paid:

  1. Open the Instawork app and go to your Profile page.

  2. Tap the gear icon (Settings).

  3. Select "Payment Settings"

  4. Tap the gear icon within Payment Settings.

  5. Choose either a checking account or a debit card and update each one individually

  6. Enter your account information and select "Save." Ensure all bank details, including your account and routing numbers, are accurate to prevent delays when updating banking information.

When will my changes take effect?

Generally, changes to your payment settings take effect immediately and will apply to your next payout, including all Instapay and 1099 weekly pay, with some exceptions Payments rerouted due to updates will typically process within 24 hours, while bank checking account transactions may take up to 3 business days..

Important note for W-2 weekly pay

Update your bank information by Sunday to increase your chances of getting your Wednesday payment deposited into your new account. Even with early updates, changes might not take effect until the following week. Don't worry if this happens—your payment will still be sent to your original payment method until the update takes effect. To ensure a smooth transition, double-check all bank details, including omitting leading zeros from account numbers if required.

Troubleshooting Payment Issues

To resolve any issues updating your payment settings, try the following steps:

  1. Update the Instawork app to the latest version via your app store.

  2. Reinstall the app to resolve potential software glitches.

  3. Restart your device and attempt the update again.

  4. Verify your details to ensure your profile matches your bank or card information.

  5. If unresolved, contact Instawork support for manual verification with a detailed issue description and documents if required.
