How to ensure your payments are processed on time

Getting paid promptly for your shifts is essential. This article outlines the key steps you should take before, during, and after your shifts to make sure your payments are processed without delays.

Before your shift

1. Verify your payment information is correct

  • Check that your bank account or debit card details are up-to-date

  • Confirm your legal name in the app matches your banking information

  • Update any expired debit cards immediately

If it's been a while since you logged in, please review your payment settings before working a shift to ensure they're still accurate.

2. Update payment destination before Sunday

  • If you need to change your payment method, do so on Sunday before payroll begins processing on Monday.

  • Making changes on Sunday gives you the best chance that your next payment will post to your updated payment method.

  • Changes made later in the week may not take effect until the following pay period

3. Enable location tracking

  • Make sure location services are enabled on your device

  • Set Instawork permissions to "Always Allow" for location tracking

  • Enable background app refresh for the Instawork app

4. Understand your payment schedule

  • Know whether you're working a 1099 or W-2 shift

  • Check if you're eligible for Instapay or a weekly payment

  • Review the payment timeline for your payment method

During your shift

1. Clock in properly

  • Arrive at your shift location on time

  • Make sure you're inside the geofence (not in the parking lot)

  • Clock in through the Instawork app when you start working

  • If required, enter any clock-in codes provided by the onsite contact

2. Keep location tracking enabled

  • Don't turn off location services during your shift

  • Keep your phone charged throughout your shift

  • Make sure the Instawork app is running in the background

After your shift

1. Clock out correctly

  • Clock out while you are still within the geofence

  • Use the Instawork app to clock out, not just the business's system

  • Verify your hours are recorded correctly before leaving

  • If there's a captain or shift lead, make sure to check out with them

2. Complete any required surveys if applicable

  • Fill out all the required fields for the end-of-shift surveys

  • Submit any requested photos or information

  • Complete surveys before leaving the location

3. Confirm your payment details

  • Check the Earnings tab to verify your shift details

  • For Instapay-eligible shifts, confirm your Instapay request if needed

  • Review your expected payment amount and timing

What to do if there's a problem

If you notice any issues that might affect your payment:

1. Address clock-in/out problems immediately

  • If you couldn't clock in or out properly, reach out to the Captain or Supervisor. If they cannot help, then contact support.

  • Provide details about when you arrived and left

  • Include the name of your on-site contact for verification

2. Report hours discrepancies quickly

  • If your hours don't look correct, submit a dispute within 24 hours

  • Provide specific details about the actual hours you worked

  • Include any evidence that supports your claim

3. Check payment status

  • If payment seems delayed, check your payment settings first

  • Verify the expected payment date based on your payment method

Please remember that following these best practices helps make sure your payments are processed correctly and on time. If you have any questions about payments, please contact our support team through the app.
