W2 Instapay - Someone else clocked me out. How do I get Instapay for my W2 shift?

Updated today

How to request Instapay when someone else clocked you out

If someone else clocked you out after your W-2 shift, you may need to take extra steps to request your Instapay. This article explains how to ensure you can still access your early payment option.

Understanding the situation

When you work a W-2 shift and want to use Instapay, you usually:

1. Clock out yourself through the app

2. Receive a prompt to request Instapay

3. Confirm your request

However, if a manager, captain, or shift lead clocked you out, you might not have seen this prompt. Don't worry—you can still request Instapay after the fact.

How to request Instapay after being clocked out by someone else

Follow these steps to request Instapay for your shift:

1. Open the Instawork app as soon as possible after your shift

2. Go to the "Earnings" tab at the bottom of the screen

3. Find your recent shift in the list

4. Tap on the shift to view its details

5. Look for the "Request Instapay" button near the payment information

6. Tap "Request Instapay" to proceed

7. Review the payment details, including the amount and fee

8. Confirm your request by tapping "Request Instapay" again

Important timing information

  • You must request Instapay before your next shift starts

  • If you don't request Instapay in time, your earnings will be processed as a regular weekly payment

  • The sooner you request Instapay after your shift, the sooner you'll receive your payment

What to do if the Instapay option isn't available

If you don't see the "Request Instapay" option for your shift:

1. Check your payment settings to confirm Instapay is enabled

  • Go to Profile > Settings > Payment settings

  • Make sure "Instapay" is selected for W-2 shifts

2. Verify the shift is eligible for Instapay

  • Not all shifts qualify for Instapay

  • W-2 Instapay is not available in specific states

Remember for future shifts

To avoid this situation in the future:

  • Always try to clock yourself out when possible
