Shift cancellation policy

What is the cancellation policy for Pros?

Updated yesterday

Instawork is dedicated to creating a successful platform for Professionals and Partners. There are strict cancellation policies in place to ensure quality for our partners.

Cancellation Policy:

Partner Cancellations:

Partner business cancellations, such as weather emergencies or public health concerns, may not qualify for compensation unless the worker arrives on time for the shift.

  • Cancellations with greater than 24 hours notice can do so without risk of suspension. Please note however, that this will affect your cancellation score and top pro level.

  • Cancellations made after the start time will result in a no-show

  • 1 no-show within 30 days will result in a 7 day suspension

  • 2 no-shows within 30 days will result in a 30 day suspension

  • Additional no shows or additional cancellation may lead to deactivation of your account.

  • Support can not excuse no-shows for any reason unless the shift was worked

  • Support cannot excuse no-shows for any reason unless the shift was worked. Appeals, however, can be submitted in the app for cancellation reviews.

  • You must submit an appeal in the app to excuse any cancellations.

  • Frequent Urgent Cancellations and any no-shows will result in a removal of all of your upcoming shifts and longer suspensions.- Users have a specified grace period (typically 15 minutes) from shift booking or shift details view to cancel without penalties.

  • Canceling an ongoing shift generally incurs a late cancellation fee (e.g., a 4-hour fee). Users cannot cancel shifts once they have clocked in.

  • For Long Term Shift assignments, you should make arrangements with the Partner and submit a request through the app.

Please don't make a habit of canceling, even with greater than 24 hours notice. Those that have a high cancellation rate may also face account suspensions.

Compensation for Partner Cancellations: Workers may be compensated for up to 4 hours if the venue cancels the shift after their arrival. Exceptions include weather emergencies, public health issues, or tracking that shows a late arrival.

How to cancel on the app:

  1. Log into your Instawork app

  2. Tap "Shifts" located in the bottom-left corner of the app

  3. Tap "My Shifts"

  4. After selecting the shift you wish to cancel, scroll down and tap "I can't make it"

  5. Enter the reasons for cancellation, then press "cancel shifts"

  6. In cases of payment disputes after shift cancellations, navigate to the "Past Shifts" section, select the shift, and request an hours adjustment, explaining the missed hours.

We value our Partner's time, canceling a shift is not recommended but we do understand that emergencies happen.
