How to adjust the end time and break

Instructions for changing clock-out time or break length

Updated this week

After completing a shift, you may need to adjust your recorded hours if they don't match the actual time you worked. If your clock-out time or break length is different from the expected shift schedule, please reach out to support via the app, and they will help you adjust your break.

For clock-out time adjustment, you can submit a dispute through the app within 12 hours of your shift end time or contact support.

For break time adjustment, please contact support.

Steps to adjust your hours (Clock out time only):

  1. Open the Instawork app and go to "Shifts" or "Past Shifts" section

  2. Select the specific shift you want to adjust hours for

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the shift details page and tap "Request Hours Adjustment"

  4. Enter the correct clock-in and clock-out times or specify changes needed

  5. Provide supporting evidence (optional but recommended) such as a timesheet photo or explanation

  6. Tap "Request" in the top right corner to submit.

You may be asked by the support team for any proof, such as a photo of your timesheet or a brief explanation for adjustments. For disputes over break deductions, specify the breaks that were incorrectly deducted and include proof, if available. Additionally, coordinate with your supervisor or captain to clarify discrepancies and expedite corrections.

Examples of useful supporting evidence:

  • Signed timesheets

  • Specific details about who supervised your shift

  • Any official communication regarding schedule changes or early dismissals. For instance, if sent home early due to a power outage, mentioning this situation with proper supporting evidence can help resolve the dispute quickly.

Providing false information in a time adjustment is a violation of our Community Guidelines and the Contractor Services Agreement. It could lead to action on your account, up to and including account suspension or deactivation.

Reminder: Hours adjustments are not eligible for Instapay and will be processed through the regular weekly payment cycle.

Important tips

  • Make sure you have already clocked out before you are able to change it. If you have not clocked out yet and you have already left the geofence, you can no longer clock out or change it. You need to contact support.

  • Also, please note that if the adjustment exceeds the maximum limit of hours extension, you will not be able to adjust it and will need to contact support for further assistance.

  • Please note that you can only adjust the clock-out time, not the break time.
