Instawork has updated the requirements for your location services in the app, which are only utilized when you are en route to your gig location. In order to log into your Instawork app, you must have your location services enabled. Turning on your location tracking is required 48 hours prior to your scheduled gig; however, Instawork only tracks your location 90 minutes before the start of your gig.

By tracking your arrival to your scheduled gig we are able to ensure that you will be arriving safely and on-time. We also use your location tracking to advocate for our Pros in the event of any timing questions/disputes with businesses.

We understand that you may have concerns about having the location services impacting the battery life of your smartphone, but can assure you that the app is built to have as little impact as possible. Please read the following information regarding location tracking in the Instawork app:

  • Location tracking is optimized to conserve battery usage.

  • Location tracking uses 1% of battery life for every hour of tracking, e.g. an 8hr gig will roughly use 8% of battery life. Information based on internal testing.

  • Due to the wide variety of smartphones available, we cannot test and optimize for all of them, however, even on older devices no more than 20% of battery life used by location tracking.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Support via the app by pressing "?" to start a conversation.
