Compensation policy for Partner shift cancellations under 24 hours

Under 24 hour partner cancellation policy

Updated over a week ago

Instawork's mission is to create economic opportunities for Professionals and Partners alike, and we understand the impact on a Professional’s livelihood when a Partner unexpectedly cancels a shift shortly before its start time. We also understand, however, that unique circumstances sometimes force a Partner to cancel at the last minute.

Sometimes businesses need to cancel shifts on short notice. Here's what you can expect if this happens to you.

When will you get paid for canceled shifts?

If a business cancels your shift with less than 24 hours' notice:

- You'll usually receive up to 4 hours of pay at your regular rate

- For shifts shorter than 4 hours, you'll get paid for the actual scheduled hours

- You do not need to go to the work location

Some businesses have different cancellation policies.

- Some businesses have a 6-hour cancellation policy instead of 24 hours

- This means they can cancel up to 6 hours before the shift without paying you

- The booking screen will clearly show if a business has a 6-hour policy

- Always check the shift details before booking

When you won't get paid for canceled shifts.

You may not receive payment if the cancellation is due to:

- Weather emergencies or natural disasters

- COVID-related issues

- The business is blocking you within 24 hours of the shift

- Incomplete or failed background checks

- Other circumstances outside the business's control
