Payment settings for Pros (US)

Updated over a week ago

The following article is for our Pros that reside in the US.

You can choose where you get paid (account type) and when you get paid (frequency) in Payment settings for your 1099 earnings.

Choose where your money is sent (account type):

  • Personal debit cards

  • Checking account

Choose when you get paid (frequency):

  • Weekly: We send your earnings every Wednesday for all shifts from the previous one-week pay period (Monday through Sunday).

  • Instapay: We send your earnings after clock out. You can only select instapay as your payment frequency seven days after you work your second shift through the Instawork platform. For example, if you complete your second shift on Sunday, February 2, your account will become instapay eligible on Monday, February 10.

  • Note: For W-2 shifts, Pros MUST confirm selecting instapay AFTER you have clocked out your shift. You are able to make this select up until you start your next shift. If you start your next W-2 shift without selecting the prior shift's as instapay, the payment will be processed as a weekly pay. To enable Instapay in your Instawork app:

  1. Open the app and select your Profile in the bottom right corner.

  2. Tap the Settings gear icon in the top right corner.

  3. Go to Payment Settings.

  4. Under "Payment Frequency," choose Instapay.

  5. Select a payout method:

    • Debit Card: Funds typically become available within one hour.

    • Checking Account: Funds are generally available within 3 business days. If you don’t see the Instapay option after meeting eligibility criteria:

  6. Ensure your second shift was completed at least 7 days ago.

  7. Confirm that your payment method is correctly linked in the app.

  8. Check for regional restrictions or any outstanding account issues.

  9. Contact Instawork support if problems persist.

An expedited transaction fee (5% everywhere | $5 in CA) per payout applies for each Instapay payment.

  • For shifts worked in the state of California, the fee is $5.

  • For shifts worked in all other states, the fee is 5% of the instapay amount.

For example, if your payout totals $100 outside of CA, a $5 fee will apply because the fee is 5% of the payout amount. If your payout totals $120 in CA, a $5 fee will apply because the fee is always $5 in California.

You can always get paid for free by choosing Weekly pay in your Payment settings.
