How to add work experience to your profile

Make your profile stronger with your work history

Adding your work experience to your Instawork profile helps you get matched with the the best shifts. There are three ways to add your experience:

  1. Upload a resume

  2. Complete a call with Instawork AI

  3. Manually enter it

Why work experience matters

Your work history shows businesses your skills and qualifications. A complete profile with relevant experience:

  • Helps you get matched with more shifts

  • Makes your profile stand out to businesses

  • May help qualify you for higher-paying positions

Option 1: Upload your resume

If you already have a resume, you can quickly import it:

  1. Open the app and tap "Profile" (bottom right corner)

  2. Scroll down until you see "Import resume"

  3. Tap to select a file from your device

  4. Choose your resume file

Supported file formats: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt, .dot (up to 20 MB)

Option 2: Use Instawork AI assistant

Let our AI help you build your work history through a simple phone conversation:

  1. Go to your profile and look for "Unlock More Positions"

  2. Tap the "Start Call" button

  3. Choose your preferred language for the call

  4. Answer questions about your past jobs and skills

The screening call takes approximately 10-15 minutes. The AI will ask about your work history and skills for each position you're interested in.

Tips for a successful AI call:

  • Find a quiet space with minimal background noise

  • Give clear, detailed answers about your experience

  • Mention specific skills related to the positions you want

Option 3: Manually add your experience

Add your work experience in 3 simple steps:

  1. Open the app and tap "Profile" (bottom right corner)

  2. Scroll down to "Work experience"

  3. Tap "+ Add experience"

For each position, include:

  • Company name

  • Your job title

  • Dates of employment

  • Key responsibilities and skills

Verifying your work experience

After adding your experience, we may need to verify it:

  1. Open the app and tap "Profile" in the bottom right corner

  2. Scroll down and select "Verify Employment"

  3. Choose the work experience you wish to verify

  4. Click "Get a Reference"

  5. Select a contact and enter their information

  6. Provide their email address or phone number

  7. Click Submit

  8. Sign and verify on the next screen

Your reference will receive an email to confirm your work experience.

If they do not receive the email:

  • Ask them to check their Spam inbox

  • Ensure the email or phone number you provided is correct

  • If the issue persists, re-enter their information and try again

Tips for Better Matches

  • Add jobs from the last 10 years

  • Include work similar to Instawork positions

  • Be specific about your responsibilities and skills

  • Update or edit your experience at any time
