How to view your payment status

Updated over 2 weeks ago

After completing a shift and successfully clocking out, you can view your earnings in the app. This article explains how to check your payment status, understand the different payment screens, and ensure you receive your payments on time.

View your earnings

To check your payment status:

  1. Open the Instawork app

  2. Tap on the Earnings tab at the bottom of your screen

  3. Find your completed shift in the list

  4. Tap on the shift to expand and view payment details

The payment status screen you see will vary based on:

  • The type of shift you worked (W-2 or 1099)

  • Your payment frequency preference (weekly or Instapay)

  • Your payment destination (checking account or debit card)

Payment status explained

Depending on your shift type and payment settings, you'll see different information on the payment screen.

Common information on all payment screens

All payment status screens show:

  • Shift details (date, time, location)

  • Earnings amount

  • Payment destination

Payment type specific information

  • Weekly payments (W-2 and 1099)

  • Expected payment date (typically Wednesday for the previous week's shifts)

  • Full earnings amount with no fees

  • Status indicators showing when payment will be processed

Instapay payments

For Instapay for W-2 shifts, you'll see:

  • Instapay amount (60% of earnings)

  • Instapay fee (5% of Instapay amount)

  • Net amount being sent

  • Remaining amount to be paid weekly

  • When it’s expected to be available

For Instapay for 1099 shifts, you'll see:

  • Full earnings amount

  • Instapay fee (5% of total amount)

  • Net amount being sent

  • When it’s expected to be available

Important reminders about payments

  1. Follow proper clock-in and clock-out procedures. Always clock in when you arrive and clock out when you finish your shift. Failing to clock in or out properly can delay your payment processing.

  2. Update payment settings before your shift. Make sure your payment settings are up to date before your shift begins. This includes:

    • Verifying your payment frequency preference (Weekly or Instapay)

    • Confirming your payment destination (Checking account or Debit card)

Changes to your payment settings made immediately before the weekly payment processing date are not guaranteed to take effect for that payment cycle. To ensure your weekly payment goes to the right destination, update your settings prior to the start of the pay period (Monday).

Glossary of payment terms

Payment date: The date Instawork processes the payment to your bank account or debit card. For weekly payments, this is typically Wednesday for the previous week's shifts (Monday through Sunday).

Withdrawal date: The date the money becomes available for you to use or withdraw. This depends on your bank or financial institution, but banks are required to make funds available within 72 hours of receiving the deposit from Instawork.

Instapay fee: A 5% fee charged when you choose to receive your payment via Instapay. The fee is calculated based on the amount you're receiving through Instapay. For example, if your Instapay amount is $100, the fee would be $5, and you would receive $95.

Pay period: For weekly payments, the pay period runs from Monday through Sunday. Payments for this period are typically processed on the following Wednesday.

Net amount: The amount you take home after deductions, taxes, or fees.
