Payment Processing and Disputes on Instawork
Instawork ensures a structured and fair process for handling disputes and payment adjustments arising from worked hours discrepancies. This article outlines how payment works during disputes, timelines for resolutions, and how adjusted payments are processed, including eligibility for Instapay.
Overview of Dispute and Payment Process
If you believe there’s a discrepancy regarding your worked hours, you can initiate a dispute through the 'Request Hours Adjustment' section in the app. Once submitted, the partner has up to 72 hours to review and approve the adjustment.
After the resolution of your dispute, payment adjustments typically align with the next scheduled weekly pay cycle and are reflected in your app.
If there is no response from the partner within the standard 72-hour period, the dispute is automatically resolved in the worker's favor.
Timelines for Payment Processing
Dispute resolution and payment adjustments follow these timelines:
72-Hour Review Period: Disputes are reviewed for up to 72 hours as per Instawork's protocol. Once resolved, users are notified of the outcome.
Weekly Pay Cycle: Payments for adjusted or corrected hours are processed during the next weekly pay run. This applies even to partial payments or bonuses related to disputes.
Instapay Exclusions: Adjusted or dispute-related payments are not eligible for Instapay, regardless of the outcome. These are processed as part of the scheduled payment cycle (usually W-2 payments are made on Wednesdays).
Partial Payments During Disputes
In cases where part of your hours are confirmed during a dispute, a partial payment may be issued promptly, while the remaining amount will be processed upon final resolution. This ensures that at least part of your earnings is paid without delay.
For example, partial payments might be sent to your linked debit card, with the remaining portion processed later to your account as W-2 earnings after final review and approval. Both hours and payment totals will be updated in the app after processing.
Key Information about Payment Adjustments
Payments for approved adjustments are updated in the app after resolution. Workers can receive their adjusted earnings within 24 hours of the shift completion if no disputes are involved.
For disputes related to 1099 shifts, any additional approved pay is released during the subsequent weekly payment run, even if part of the shift is paid earlier.
