Payment Processing and Disputes on Instawork
Instawork ensures a structured and fair process for handling disputes and payment adjustments arising from worked hours discrepancies. This article outlines how payment works during disputes, timelines for resolutions, and how adjusted payments are processed, including eligibility for Instapay.
What to do if your hours are wrong
If the hours recorded in the app don't match the time you actually worked, you need to submit a dispute. This is how you get your pay corrected.
How to submit a dispute:
Open the Instawork app on your phone
Tap on the "Request Hours Adjustment" section
Enter the exact hours you worked
Provide any details about why the hours are wrong
Submit your request
The review timeline: After you submit a dispute, here's exactly what happens:
The Partner has exactly 72 hours (3 days) to review your request
The Partner can either approve or deny your request during this time
If the Partner doesn't take any action within 72 hours, your request will be automatically approved
How you'll get paid after a dispute: Disputed hours are paid differently than regular hours:
All adjusted payments go through the weekly payment system, not Instapay
For W-2 Pros, these payments typically arrive on Wednesdays
For 1099 Pros, these payments follow your regular weekly payment schedule
You cannot use Instapay to access any disputed hours, even after they're approved
This applies to all dispute-related payments, including partial payments and bonuses
Getting paid while your dispute is being resolved: You don't have to wait for everything to be resolved to get some of your money:
If only part of your hours are disputed, we may pay you for the undisputed hours right away
For example: If you worked 8 hours but 2 hours are disputed, you might get paid for 6 hours now and the remaining 2 hours after the dispute is resolved
The app will show $0 for any disputed hours until the dispute is fully resolved
Once resolved, both your hours and payment totals will be updated in the app
Important deadlines and information: Follow these guidelines to get paid correctly and quickly:
Submit your dispute within 12 hours after your shift ends - this is the fastest way to get it resolved
Check the "Earnings" section of your app regularly to see updates to your hours and payment
For 1099 shifts, any additional approved pay will come in your next weekly payment, even if you were already paid for part of the shift
If your dispute is approved, you can expect to receive your adjusted earnings within the next weekly payment cycle
