How to Update or Correct Your Address, Including Apartment Number, on Your I-9 Form through Instawork
If you need to update or correct the address on your I-9 form, including adding or fixing an apartment number, the process may vary depending on the status of your form. Follow the detailed instructions below to ensure your information is up to date.
Overview of I-9 Updates
The address information on the I-9 form is typically pulled from your profile at the time of submission. If your I-9 has already been submitted or is under admin review, direct edits may not be possible without starting a new submission or completing the current administrative process.
Steps to Update Your I-9 Form Address
1. Update Profile Information
First, ensure your profile address is accurate in the Instawork app:
Open the Instawork app.
Go to your Profile.
Tap Settings and then Account Information.
Tap your Home Address line to edit the address.
Enter the complete address, including the apartment number, such as "123 Main Street Apt 456." Use a format like "#456" if necessary.
Tap Save in the top-right corner.
2. Make Changes During W-2 Application Process
If your I-9 form is still in the onboarding process or under admin review, you may update the address through the W-2 application:
Go to your Profile in the app.
Open W-2 Application Status.
Follow the on-screen steps to edit your address and ensure it matches your identification documents.
If corrections cannot be made during admin review, wait until you are notified, as updates are locked during this period. Once the review is complete, follow prompts in the app for corrections.
3. Resubmit Your I-9 Form if Necessary
If the updated address does not reflect or changes cannot be made directly:
Restart the submission process to ensure the I-9 pulls the correct address from your profile.
Verify that all entered information matches your identification documents exactly, including your full name and apartment number.
To restart:
Go to W-2 Application Status in the app.
Follow the prompts to start a new I-9 submission.
4. Address Rejected I-9 Forms
If your form was rejected due to a mismatch between your profile data and your ID, take the following steps:
Confirm the address and other details match your identification documents.
Use the Resubmit button in the app and upload any required documents.
Tips and Recommendations
Use simple, supported formats for apartment numbers (e.g., "Apt 123" or "#123") without unsupported special characters.
Double-check your entries and ensure your app is updated to the latest version.
If you encounter persistent issues, review the FAQs or contact Instawork support for further assistance.
