How Cancellation Works for Long-Term Assignment Shifts

Updated today

Long-Term shifts allow you to commit to working multiple shifts at a single business. This commitment typically lasts longer than 1 week (most times are 30 days or longer) and follows a regular schedule, giving you consistent work without the need to search for new shifts.

Important: When you cancel a long-term shift, it cancels ALL remaining shifts on that assignment group unless you request an excused absence for specific shift(s).

If at any point you need to cancel your LTA shift, here are the steps to follow:

1. Go to the LTA shifts in the app’s “My Shift” tab

2. Select the shift you cannot attend

3. Follow the prompts to request an excused absence

4. Track your request status in the app (pending, approved, or rejected)

- The Partners will have the ability to approve the request up to 3 days PRIOR to the start of the shift’s scheduled start date.

- If they don't respond, your request is automatically approved.

Remember:

For most long-term assignments, Instawork professionals will need to complete three (3) shifts on the assignment before they can request an excused absence through the Instawork app.

  • Always check the app for eligibility to request excused absence.

  • Each shift requires its own separate leave request. You’ll need to submit one request to cover each date. When requesting for multiple dates, you will need to submit multiple requests via the app.

  • If the partner rejects your request, you must work the shift or else you'll be marked as a no-show

Why These Rules Matter

These guidelines are designed to balance flexibility for Pros with reliability for partners. By requiring separate requests and setting clear timelines, this ensures that our partners have enough time to adjust staffing.
