Pros now have 12 hours from the end of the shift!
We understand that the clock in/out times may not reflect your actual hours worked it is our goal to ensure you're paid for the time you have actually worked. You can now dispute your hours in the app! You have 12 hours from the end of the shift to submit a dispute. Some common challenges users face include missing shifts or hours not visible under earnings, incorrectly recorded clock-in or clock-out times, discrepancies in hours recorded versus hours worked, and shifts marked incorrectly due to lateness or other tracking errors. Additionally, failing to clock out after a shift is another common issue that requires prompt resolution to ensure accurate reporting of hours worked.
Additionally, one of the most common disputes involves break hours (e.g., deductions for breaks not taken). This process ensures you are paid accurately for all hours worked. If breaks or adjustments were made incorrectly, ensure the documentation submitted matches the actual hours worked, including any breaks taken.
To adjust your hours, follow these steps: Before starting the adjustment process, review the 'Earnings' section in the Instawork app to confirm your hours worked and payments recorded. Gather necessary information, such as exact clock-in/clock-out times, shift date and location, and supervisor details, to support your claim. You may also include signed timesheets or other written verifications from your on-site supervisor to substantiate your submission.
Open the Past Shifts Section:
Navigate to the "Shifts" or "Past Shifts" section of the app.
Select the Specific Shift:
Tap on the shift for which you want to adjust hours.
Tap on the Hours Adjustment Option:
Scroll to the bottom of the shift's details page and look for the "Request Hours Adjustment" or "Adjust Hours" feature.
Enter Corrected Hours:
Input the corrected clock-in and clock-out times, total hours worked, or specify changes.
Provide Supporting Evidence:
Optionally, attach proof such as a photo of your timesheet or a brief explanation for adjustments. For disputes over break deductions, specify the breaks that were incorrectly deducted and include proof, if available. Additionally, coordinate with your supervisor or captain to clarify discrepancies and expedite corrections. Examples of useful supporting evidence also include signed timesheets, specific details about who supervised your shift, and any official communication regarding schedule changes or early dismissals.
Submit the Request:
Confirm the changes by tapping "Submit" or "Request."

Disputes are sent to the Partner, who has 72 hours to review and either accept or reject the claim. If they fail to do either after that deadline, the adjustment will be made in your favor. The support team can also manually clock you out if informed within 12 hours of the shift ending, using your last known location or other provided details for accuracy. As soon as a decision has been made, you'll receive an email. For shifts manually signed in, the hours may appear after confirmation from your worksite, a process that could take several business days.
Note: Approved adjustments and related compensations are processed in the normal weekly pay cycle, which usually occurs on Wednesdays.
In the future, you can make the adjustments to your clock-out time in the app prior to clocking out to ensure that the time worked is accurate. Periodically review your hours in the app and resolve discrepancies early to avoid payment issues later.
To avoid discrepancies, double-check break confirmations during the clock-out process and ensure the app reflects your actual breaks taken. If you are dismissed early from a shift, document the dismissal details with the on-site captain for future reference.
If the dispute window has already closed, follow these steps to request a late hours adjustment: Also, for special scenarios such as being automatically clocked out early or being sent home before the shift officially ended, it is vital to submit a dispute specifying the hours actually worked, supported by evidence. For workers on 1099 shifts, a similar dispute submission is required, with the Partner having three days to review.
Submit a Late Hours Adjustment Request:
Navigate to Past Shifts, select the shift, and request an adjustment.
Provide Accurate Information:
Clearly state the actual hours worked and reasons for submission beyond the dispute window.
Contact Instawork Support:
If your adjustment isn't accepted in-app, escalate the case to Instawork support with complete details.
