Paid Backup Shifts: Your Complete Guide

Updated this week

What is a backup shift?

Picking up a backup shift means you're on standby in case a scheduled Professional cancels or doesn't show up. You may earn 4 hours of pay even if you're not needed to work.

Note: Backup shifts may convert to regular shifts if another Pro cancels before the shift starts. Always plan to work the entire shift duration.

How do back up shifts work?

For a backup shift, you will arrive to the shift on time, prepared and ready to work.

If the Partner needs your help, you will jump in and work the shift as normal. If you work the shift as a backup Pro, you will get paid the hourly rate of the shift for the hours that you work for the Partner.

If the Partner does not need your help and you meet all shift requirements, you’ll be sent home and receive 4 hours of pay.

Backup Professionals who do not meet the shift requirements or otherwise were not prepared to work will not receive payment and may receive a poor rating on their profile, affecting future shift access.
