Top Pro Program

Understanding the Top Pro Program

As an Instawork Pro, you can earn extra money through the Top Pro program. This article explains how Top Pro points work and how you can qualify for them.

What are Top Pro Points?

Top Pro levels are determined by the amount of Top Pro points you have earned. You can earn 10 points from each shift you have successfully worked. At the start of each month, your level is determined based on total points collected (rollover points + earned points) in the previous month.

Additionally, to qualify for each level, specific average rating requirements must be met, with Gold requiring a 4.8 and Platinum requiring a 4.9 or higher.

You can also roll over extra points you earned beyond your required level can be carried over to the next month if you maintain an average rating of 4.9+. These points expire after one month and cannot be rolled over again.

How do Rollover Points work?

  • If you earn more points than needed for your current Top Pro level, excess points carry over to the next month.

  • You must maintain a 4.9+ average rating and qualify for Top Pro status to be eligible for rollover. (See monthly requirements in the table below.)

  • Rollover points expire after one month and cannot roll over again.

Double points may be awarded during promotional events for specific shifts, though not for entire weekly schedules.

Example:

  • In October, you earn 110 points → You qualify for Gold (50 points required).

  • The extra 60 points roll over to November (since you maintained a 4.9+ rating).

  • In November, you earn 50 points → You qualify for Gold again, and 50 points roll over to December.

  • If your rating drops below 4.9, your points will not roll over to the next month.

Please note: Working shifts with double points does NOT automatically move you to a higher status. You must still meet the monthly Top Pro requirements for your desired level.

  • Earn the total points needed.

  • Maintain a required average rating for specific level.

  • Have no late cancellations and no-shows

Note: Instapay no longer requires top pro level. Please see this article on how to enable Instapay.

How does using paid sick leave affect my Top Pro status?

If you need to use paid sick leave, you'll need to cancel your scheduled shift. These cancellations count toward your Top Pro requirements just like any other cancellation.

Understanding cancellation timing:

The timing of your cancellation determines how it affects your Top Pro status:

  • Cancel more than 24 hours before your shift? This counts as an early cancellation

  • Cancel within 24 hours of your shift? This counts as a late cancellation

What this means for your tier:

Each Top Pro level has different cancellation limits. When you use sick leave, those cancellations count toward these limits:

  • Bronze and Silver Pros cannot have any cancellations (early or late) and still maintain their status

  • Gold Pros can have up to 1 early cancellation but no late cancellations

  • Platinum Pros can have up to 3 early cancellations but no late cancellations

At the start of each month, we review your previous month's activity to determine your tier. This includes looking at all cancellations, whether they were for sick leave or other reasons.

Pro tip: If you know you'll need to use sick leave, request it as early as possible. Canceling more than 24 hours in advance helps you stay within your tier's limits.

Learn more about requesting paid sick leave in our paid sick leave guide.

Important Notes and Scenarios:
Does requesting paid sick leave affect my Top Pro status?

Yes. Requesting paid sick leave requires you to cancel your shift, and this cancellation counts toward your tier's monthly limits. To minimize the impact on your status, cancel as early as possible. Cancellations made more than 24 hours before a shift are considered early cancellations, while those made within 24 hours are late cancellations. Each tier has different limits for these cancellation types.
