How do I book a shift with a health or drug screening?

Step-by-step guide on how to book shifts that require a drug screening

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Some shifts on Instawork require drug or health screening. If needed, you'll schedule a lab appointment through our partner, Checkr, during the booking process. You'll choose a location and time that works for you.

You must complete and pass the screening at least 24 hours before your shift. If you don't:

  • You'll be removed from the current shift

  • Any future shifts requiring screening will be unassigned

  • You won't qualify for the 4-hour payment

We recommend giving yourself 5-7 days to schedule and complete your screening. Remember, same-day testing isn't allowed for these shifts.

Please follow these step-by-step instructions on booking the drug screening, as a part of the shift booking process:

Step 1: Book the shift you want in the Open Shifts tab. Shifts that require a drug screening will have a green banner that says, DRUG SCREENING.

Step 2: Read through and confirm the shift instructions, job duties and requirements. You will then see this screen below. This is the beginning of the drug screening booking process - confirm your information and continue

Step 3: You are now in the Checkr portal. Confirm your personal information and continue

Step 4: Select a clinic location to go and complete the drug screening. You can change this later, if needed.

Step 5: Read through and review the disclosure and submit your information to receive your health screening pass and access your candidate portal.

Step 6: Select 'Get Status' to access your Checkr portal, check in, and accesshealth pass - you will need this for the screening appointment

Step 7: Once you exit the in-app Checkr portal, you will be brought back to the shift booking details

Step 8: Check your email and SMS messages for messages from Checkr regarding your drug screening
