Duplicate Accounts on Instawork

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Why You Should Only Have One Instawork Account?

Instawork does not allow Professionals to have multiple accounts on the platform. Creating more than one account violates our terms of service and can lead to account suspension or deactivation.

What Counts as a Duplicate Account?

A duplicate account is created when you:

  • Sign up with a different phone number while already having an existing account- Use a different email address while retaining the same identification details.

- Create a new account after being unable to access your original account

  • Make a new account using different personal information- Register an account using the same Social Security Number (SSN) but with altered contact details.

What Happens If You Have Multiple Accounts

If our system detects that you have multiple accounts, the duplicate account may be suspended or deactivated. In some cases, all associated accounts may be suspended while we review them. Additionally, having duplicate accounts can lead to persistent issues such as frozen profiles, lost work history, and delayed payments.

What to Do If You Can't Access Your Account

If you're having trouble logging into your account, do not create a new one. If you've lost access to your Instawork account or don't remember which phone number you used to create your account, please take a look at our Account Recovery page for step-by-step instructions on how to regain access.

To recover your account, open the Instawork app and select 'Start Account Recovery.' Provide your old and new contact details, complete identity verification with a government-issued ID, and follow the prompts to finalize the process. Once verified, your original account, along with its work history and earnings, will be restored, and duplicate accounts will be deactivated automatically. You can also visit the Account Recovery Page here: Account Recovery Page. After submitting your account details, the system will send a verification code to the new contact number for confirmation. Use this code to finalize the recovery process. Ensure to have a government-issued ID ready for identity validation during the recovery.

Deleting Duplicate or Unwanted Accounts

Deleting duplicate accounts ensures that your primary profile remains secure and accessible. Below is a step-by-step guide for removing unnecessary profiles:

  1. Using the In-App Deletion Feature: Open the account to be removed, go to "Delete My Account," and follow the prompts. Be cautious, as this process is irreversible.

  2. Managing Accounts Without Login Access: Use partial details such as an email or phone number to recover the account before proceeding with deletion.

For privacy, all deletion requests must be initiated by the user.
