When your Instawork Pro account is deactivated, you will no longer be able to access shifts through the Instawork app. This article explains what deactivation means and what you should know if this happens.
Understanding account statuses: suspension vs. deactivation
Account deactivation means your access to the Instawork platform has been permanently removed. While this rarely happens, certain exceptions apply where appeals or reactivation may be possible, particularly under specific circumstances such as clarifications or evident mistakes.
Important things to know
After deactivation, you will not be able to book any more shifts on the Instawork platform.
Do not create a new account. Creating a second account after deactivation is against Instawork's policies. Any new accounts will be flagged as duplicates and will also be deactivated.
You'll still receive all pending payments after your account is deactivated.
Cancellation Policies and Reliable Attendance is critical on Instawork. When you accept a shift, Partners count on you to show up on time and complete your work.
These actions can lead to deactivation:
- Not showing up for shifts you accepted
- Canceling shifts less than 24 hours before start time
- Repeatedly arriving late to shifts - Leaving shifts early without permission
Each no-show or late cancellation is tracked in your account history. Multiple violations will result in permanent deactivation.
Common reasons for deactivation
Accounts may be deactivated for several reasons, including:
No-shows, late cancellations, or consistently low shift ratings, viewed as breaches of the Contractor Services Agreement
Attempting to create duplicate accounts in violation of community guidelines and Terms of Use
Multiple negative ratings or feedback from Partners, which indicate performance gaps
Providing false information, repeated policy violations, or other non-compliance with shift policies
Severe or repeated breaches of Instawork's Community Guidelines
Violations of the Contractor Service Agreement
Non-Appealable Deactivations
Accounts terminated for the following Community Guidelines violations are permanently deactivated with no possibility of appeal or reactivation:
Account sharing (letting someone else use your account)
Unauthorized access to the platform
Credential sharing (giving your login information to others) - Identity misrepresentation
These violations are considered serious breaches of trust and security. All decisions regarding these violations are final.
What to do if you believe there was an error
If you believe your account was deactivated by mistake, you can initiate an appeal through the Instawork app.
1. Go to the 'Appeal' option shown with your deactivation reason
2. Explain what happened in detail
3. Provide proof such as:
Medical documentation with the date of emergency
Screenshots of app errors with timestamps
Messages between you and the Partner
Photos showing you were at the worksite
Note: Appeals without verifiable documentation from the time of the incident will not be approved. Personal statements alone are not enough for successful appeals.
