Arriving at a shift and not being able to find your supervisor or on-site contact can be frustrating. This article explains the steps you should take to resolve this situation.
Steps to take when you can't find your on-site contact
Check your shift instructions.
Review the shift details in your app. Often they will contain important information about the check-in process.
Make sure you're at the correct meeting point.
Confirm you're at the right location and on time.
Attempt to contact all on-site contacts.
Scroll to the bottom of your shift details to find Partner contact names and phone numbers.
Call and text all listed contacts.
Try each contact at least once.
Connect with other Instawork Pros.
Check who else is working the same shift through the app.
Message them to ask where they are or if they've found the supervisor.
Look around for other Pros who might be working the same shift
Ask for help from other on-site staff.
Approach front desk receptionists, security guards, or other on-site staff.
Explain that you're there to work an Instawork shift and need to find your supervisor.
Ask if they can direct you to the right person or department
Contact Instawork support.
If you've tried all of the steps above and waited at least 15 minutes, contact support.
Open the Instawork app and tap the "?" icon.
Explain your situation clearly and include the shift details. You may be asked for a screenshot of your call logs, proof of reaching out to the onsite contact, supervisor, or captain, and any proof that will verify your location on site.
Important things to know
Stay on site: Remain at the shift location for an hour after your scheduled start time and continue reaching out to the on-site contact.
Keep location tracking on: Make sure your location tracking is enabled as required for the shift.
Document your attempts: Keep track of who you tried to contact and when.
Wait for instructions: Don't leave without guidance from the support team.
What about payment for the shift?
If you follow all the steps above and stay on site for an hour, you may be eligible for partial payment (up to 4 hours). If your shift duration is less than 4 hours, you will only get paid for the length of your shift. For example, if your shift starts at 1:00 pm and ends at 3:00 pm, you will get paid for 2 hours.
Leaving the site before an hour has passed or without instructions from the Instawork support team may result in may result in forfeiture of the 4 hours compensation.
Instawork will follow up with the Partner to prevent this situation in the future.
To request a manual adjustment for missed hours, navigate to 'Past Shifts' in the app, select the affected shift, and click 'Request Hours Adjustment'. Make sure you are able to clock in and out before leaving your shift.
