Instawork requires you to clock in when you arrive and clock out when you leave your shift. This article explains how to successfully clock in and out to ensure you get paid on time.
Geofence requirements
You can only clock-in and clock-out of a shift when you are within the geofence (approximately 500 feet surrounding the building) of your shift location. This helps verify you are physically present at the work location.
How to successfully clock in
Arrive at your shift location at least 10 minutes before your scheduled start time
Make sure you are inside the building, not in your vehicle in the parking lot
Enable location tracking on your phone if prompted
Open the Instawork app and navigate to your shift details
Tap the "Clock In" button when you're ready to start
If required, enter the clock-in code provided by your onsite contact
Troubleshooting clock-in issues
If you're having trouble clocking in:
Verify you are inside the geofence location, not in the parking lot
When available, reach out to the onsite contact to get the clock-in code for the shift
Ensure your location tracking is turned on in your phone settings
Check that you have a stable internet connection
Try moving to a different area of the building if you're near walls or in a basement
How to successfully clock out
Complete all your shift duties before attempting to clock out
Stay within the building when clocking out (not in the parking lot)
If there is a captain or shift lead assigned, you must clock out with them
Open the Instawork app and tap the "Clock Out" button
Complete any required end-of-shift surveys or feedback
Important tips
Forgetting to clock out, or leaving the shift location before checking out is completed, may result in payment delays.
If you have already left the geofence, you will not be able to clock out through the app.
Your shift earnings will be deposited based on your accurate clock-in and clock-out information.
Always verify your clock-in and clock-out were successful before leaving.
