Our goal is to provide economic opportunities for Instawork's Professionals and Partners. We're able to accomplish this goal by consistently being reliable and operating with empathy, trust, and candor.

Every time you are tardy (arrive late) to a gig, cancel your gig last-minute or don't show up for work, we lose opportunities for both our professionals and partners. It's our responsibility to be mindful of our colleagues' time and recognize how our actions impact everyone in our community. Being punctual, and consistently reliable will get you better access to future gigs.

To encourage reliability, here are guidelines to consider when planning to work gigs:

Avoid Being Tardy

  • Clocking into your gig 15 minutes after the shift start time will be considered a major tardy and lowers your overall performance rating, which may prevent you from getting access to gigs in the future.

  • Your earnings will be calculated based on the time you clock-in through the app and start working. Arriving late will impact your earnings.

  • Clocking in before your shift start time may be considered dishonest, which can result in low ratings and being blocklisted from future gigs with our partners.

  • Anticipated delays in transportation to your scheduled gigs due to traffic or weather will not excuse major tardies, please plan accordingly.

Not Confirming Your Gig On-Time

  • Not confirming your gig in the app will be considered an auto-cancellation.

  • The auto-cancellation will increase your cancellation rate.

  • High cancellation rates will negatively affect your access to future gigs.

  • Disqualifies you from Instawork Top Pro rewards for the next month.

Canceling Your Gig

  • Canceling your gig in-app will increase your cancellation rate.

  • High cancellation rates will negatively affect your access to future gigs.

  • Disqualifies you from Instawork Top Pro rewards for the next month.

Not Showing Up for Your Gig

  • You will be removed from all of your upcoming gigs within 12 hours of the no-show if verifiable documentation is not provided.

  • Your overall performance rating will be negatively impacted, which will affect getting access to future gigs.

  • Disqualifies you from Instawork Top Pro rewards for the next month.

Submitting an Appeal

If you want to appeal a cancellation or no-show, please submit your mandatory documentation by navigating to the "Gigs" section in the app and selecting "View details" of the gig. Provide your reasoning and attach the relevant documentation (e.g. doctor's note, proof of car repair, jury summons). Please allow a few days for our team to review your submission and respond to your appeal.

Additional Guidelines

  • If you know you can't make it to a scheduled gig, please cancel your gig in-app immediately. Last-minute cancellations may result in your profile being blocklisted from the partner or losing access to more gigs in the future.

  • Do not contact the partner to cancel your gig. Use the Instawork app to cancel or get your shift covered as quickly as possible.
