Exploring the shift details page
Updated over a week ago

When you click on a shift in the dashboard, it will bring you to the shift’s details page. Here you’ll find tools to edit your shift details, send announcements, review Pro profiles, prepare your clock-in/out procedures, and troubleshoot issues that may arise.

Tools to manage your shift

Edit shift details

You can adjust shift start/end times, location instructions, and attire and grooming instructions until 24 hours before the shift starts.

Send announcements

At the top of the page, there’s a button to use our announcement feature, which enables you to communicate with the Pros who have booked your shift. We recommend using Announcements to keep Pros up to date, especially if there are updates to the shift, such as change in arrival time, or if there are additional resources you want them to have access to, such as maps or menus. See how to send an announcement.

Review Pro profiles

You can also see profiles for the Pros that have picked up your shift on the shift details page. Click on each Pro’s name to view their full profile, including work history and Instawork ratings.

Get clock-in and clock-out codes

At the top of the shift details page you will find separate 4-digit “clock in” and “clock out” codes. You’ll give these to Pros to enable them to clock in and out of their shift on the Instawork app. Make sure you have these handy when the shift starts. Read how to clock Pros in and out.

Print a physical sign in and out sheet

Some Partners prefer to have a physical sign in and out sheet to cross reference with the clock in and out codes in the Instawork app. You can print a physical timesheet for your shift by clicking “Print” and then “Timesheet” at the top of the page.

Tools for after your shift

Book another shift with the same details

If you have similar shifts coming up, you can quickly post them by clicking “Book again” on the top right. This will create another shift with the same location, shift instructions, position(s), and attire and grooming instructions. Note, it will not necessarily book the same Pros.

You’ll have a chance to review the details and set your shift date(s) before posting.

Tools to help troubleshoot

Add or cancel individual shifts

Sometimes your needs fluctuate after you’ve posted a shift. You can add individual shifts by clicking “Add Professionals” if you need more help. You can also cancel individual shifts by clicking “Cancel” next to a Pro’s profile. Note, you can cancel any shift free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts. If you cancel within 24 hours of the shift start time, you may be subject to a cancellation fee. Learn more about cancellations.

Cancel shifts for free until 24 hours hours before your shift

If you need to completely cancel the shift, you can click “Cancel shift” at the top of the page. This will cancel all Pros who have picked up the shift.

Note, you can cancel any shift free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts. If you cancel within 24 hours of the shift start time, you may be subject to a cancellation fee. Learn more about cancellations.

Report time-sensitive issues

If you have a time-sensitive issue before or during your shift, you can click the “Report Issue” button to send a message to our support team. If necessary, you can also report trust & safety issues to our team via this form.

Paid backups

To ensure your shifts are covered, Instawork may sometimes add paid back up workers to your shift. This is a precautionary measure to have someone ready to step in in case a Pro cancels at the last minute or doesn’t show up for the shift. If Paid back ups are added to your shift, you will see them below the list of requested Pros.

You’re only charged for paid backups if you decide you want them to work the shift. If you decide to send home the Pros who are paid backups, you will not be charged, and Instawork covers the cost. Read about paid backups.
