You can rely on the fact that Instawork shifts typically go off without a hitch for the vast majority of businesses and workers. However, we understand that sometimes unexpected situations arise, and we want you to know that Instawork is here to support you every step of the way.

I need to cancel a shift

We get it — things change. You can cancel your shift for free more than 24 hours before the start time. If you need to cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled shift start time, you may incur a cancellation charge if Pros have already picked up the shift. Learn more.

Pros have not picked up my shift

On average, Pros pick up shifts on Instawork within 24 hours from posting. If for some reason you still have a shift without a Pro assigned 90 minutes before the start time, Instawork still sends notifications to workers who match the criteria for your shift. In that scenario, you can:

  • Push back the shift start time to try and get someone in at the last minute

  • Cancel the shift with no Pros assigned.

A worker doesn’t show up

If a Pro doesn’t show up for your shift, you can try looking at their location in the app or calling them. If you can’t reach them or they’re not on the way, mark them as a no-show in your account. You can do this during or after the shift. Learn more.

A worker shows up but doesn’t meet my requirements

If a Pro doesn’t meet the shift or attire requirements, arrives more than 10 minutes late to the shift, or refuses to work, you can send them home without incurring any charge. Mark changes in the timesheet when the shift is over. Learn more.

There is a time-sensitive issue during my shift

If you have a time-sensitive issue before or during your shift, you can click the “Report Issue” button to send a message to our support team. If necessary, you can also report trust & safety issues to our team via this form.
